‘Data driven production planning, leading to an increase in output and customer satisfaction’

CHALLENGES

  • Strained Supply Chain: The operational organization was under significant pressure due to a rapidly increasing customer demand.
  • Inefficient way of working Operations: Business operations teams were burdened by inefficiencies from repetitive tasks and a lack of meaningful insights from the system’s data.
  • System’s data gap: A critical gap was identified in the system, which was necessary for effective Master Production Schedule (MPS) implementation in the production process.

SOLUTION & OUTCOMES

  • Collaboration across different departments, including Supply Chain Planning, Operations, and Customer Satisfaction, leading to the establishment of a robust weekly output reporting process.
  • Implementation of a Control Tower that leveraged automated reporting in Power BI. It facilitated efficient escalation management and provided valuable insights for in-depth root cause analysis.
  • Supported the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process by creating a specialized tool for balancing supply and demand over a 12-week horizon. This improvement enhanced prioritization and significantly increased customer satisfaction.
  • To streamline planning and operations, other automation solutions were introduced. These automated processes resulted in substantial time savings of up to one hour per day.

Results

  • Improved planning efficiency, Increased on-time delivery

  • Impact in production output, Reduction in production delays, incidents, and rework

  • 7 hrs/day Saved in planning and operations as a result of automation
