To Complain or Not To....

Hi again:

Have you noticed how so many blogs are just another forum for sharing your plights? For complaining about things that you think others can relate to? Or about inviting others to share their complaints with you so that you can sell them something?

I'd like to go on record as stating that this blog is not like that.

In fact, I was reading a great book recently that emphasized the importance of spending time talking about the things we ENJOY. What a concept! It seems that here in North America, we are highly cultured to spend our social time sharing bad news with one another. At the end of the conversation, we tend to feel less good than when we started.

And don't you find that those kind of social times are ones you dread?

And don't you also find that others involved in the conversation often play the 'one-upmanship' game? "You think that's bad, wait til you hear what happened to xxx!"

So let's start a new culture; let's start focusing on what is good in our lives. Let's start being conscious EVERY DAY of having social interactions that leave us feeling uplifted. Let's share the things we enjoy -- our hobbies, our passions, our children (and our grandchildren), our gardens, our recipes, our personal treats and all the things that we do for PURE PLEASURE.

I call these things Ultimate Values; we do them 'just because'. And we do them far less often than we deserve. Especially we women. We've been conditioned to think that the work has to be done before the Play can begin. But let's start to change that thinking now.

Let's explore our senses -- serve food that smells delicious, looks divine, tastes like heaven and feels wonderful to the palate. Just savouring each moment of the meal, just enjoying the family time together around the dinner table, just laughing and loving and being 'in the moment' -- even if it's just for a few moments each day.

And then write to me and tell me about those experiences. And how they made you and your family feel.

I can't wait to hear from you!
Linda
